BACK-STORY

Over the years I began to play this word game with the kids at church every Thanksgiving by getting them to repeat “Gobble-S-U” with me faster and faster until they realized they were actually saying “God bless you”. I finally decided it deserved to be a song, which I wrote in 2009 and sang in Children’s Church that year.

Teresa and I recorded the home studio version in the fall of 2010. I created the music backing track using an amazing software program called Band-in-a-Box. We included the song in our first Facebook Live concert in November 2021, and then created this fun video using excerpt footage from the concert.

We hope you enjoy watching and singing along with this video, not just at Thanksgiving, but all throughout the year.
